Praa Sands is situated on the southern coast of Cornwall. We found it in the winter of 2023 after doing a road trip to Cornwall and visiting St Michaels Mount just before. We were looking for an overnight parking spot and found ourselves at Praa Sands. Not only is the beach stunning but we were treated to one of the best sunsets we’ve ever seen. Now that’s a bold claim.
It’s a stunning seaside destination that offers natural beauty, exciting activities, and serene spots perfect for a relaxing getaway. There’s also a couple of bars and restaurants. Making is a perfect stop for any vanlife road trip. It is well worth a visit and when we visited in the winter it was relatively quiet. Only drawback was the castle was closed so it was a quick stop there. We did get to walk across the causeway and part of the island which was worth it.

Yes, you can surf at Praa Sands! Even though we were there in the winter we felt the surf vibes there, from the beach to the bars. We can only imagine what it’s like in the summer. We didn’t surf as we didn’t have our surf gear with us but we want to head back when the weather is warmer and catch some waves. From the looks of it it’s suitable for all skill levels.
